How to Keep Your Skin Moisturized and Dewy this Winter

The most wonderful time of the year is here and with it is an icy chill. As we enjoy scrumptious cozy dinners and fun icy adventures, our skin is being put to work. We love this time of year but we wanted to check-in with everyone and make sure your hydration needs are being met. Here are a few quick tips on how to stay dewy and bright this season while enjoying all the festivities.

DRY SKIN

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. If you’re prone to the woes of naturally dry skin, it’s vital that you make double the effort to replenish your skin. Chilly winds can easily strip away at your skin’s natural protective barrier, leaving it incredibly vulnerable. This can cause uncomfortable irritation, redness, and flaking. The loss of moisture can even make your skin look dull and lackluster. Always carry a rich moisturizer with you no matter where you go to quickly recharge your skin. We recommend taking a pea-sized amount and dabbing it lightly onto your dry patches.

OILY SKIN

It’s a common misconception that oily skin types don’t need to put a high importance on hydrating their skin during the colder seasons. If you are oily and neglect moisture care, especially in winter, you also run the risk of stripping and irritating your skin. If you have acne-prone skin, it is essential that you hydrate daily as blemish treatments can often eat away at your moisture barrier. We recommend using a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates your skin and soothes your acne concerns.

COMBINATION SKIN

Weightless lotions, gels, sprays or even facial masks are great hydrating alternatives for combination skin types. Sheet masks are usually a great option for those looking for light to medium hydration. While wash-off masks, that dual as moisturizers, can be used to easily spot treat dry areas. The key to nourishing combination skin is finding the right moisturizing method. If you rely too much on rich products, you could potentially clog your pores and trigger an unwanted breakout.

THE LONG AND SHORT

Winters are tough. Everywhere we go, the temperatures vary from frigid to extra warm in a matter of seconds. This sudden change can take a major toll on your skin. Make the conscious effort to find a moisturizer that works for you. Even if you use it solely to spot treat dry areas, give your skin the nourishment it deserves. Be the dewy, glowy and lovely holiday god/goddess you were meant to be without compromising your skin’s needs.
